Apple Corporation has recently launched the latest version of its Mac OS “Lion”. The latest OS Lion has been sold to over 1 million copies on the first day of availability.

The Lion OS, which went on sale Wednesday morning, made its launch on October in the “Back to Mac” corporate event conducted by Apple Corp. At yesterdays’ launch, the company has found out that the customers buying Lion “faster than any other version of the OS in Apple’s history.”

“Lion has made a fantastic start, feedback and industry response has been great,” said Philip Schiller, senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing said in a statement. “Lion is a great OS with lot of features, it is not only equipped with innovative features, but it’s incredibly easy for users to upgrade their Mac OS to the latest OS.

This is the first version of Mac OS from Apple which offers digital download on the Mac App Store. The company plans to allow customers to buy Lion in USB flash drive for $ 69.

Apple says that the package of Lion has “over 250 new features.” Highlights include support for full screen apps, more Multi-Touch gestures, system restore, and the special feature called “launch pad” which mimics the icons based apps launcher in the iOS.
